Winter was in full force -- cold and snowy.
It was perfect Fall weather.
Bought a cool electric bike to get around since I don't have a car in town anymore.
Did some great hikes and visited with friends.
We celebrated Dani's 42nd birthday with a trip to Victoria, BC.
We left our car in Port Angeles and took our bikes on the Blackball ferry to Victoria.
We stayed at a great hotel (Delta) on the lower harbor. Did all the usual tourist stuff; great fun. So many restaurants, but so little time.
Spent time at the beach with friends visiting from Alaska.
Went crabbing in Jamaica Bay, flew a kite, and hung on the beach.
Visited with friends.
Met Jenny's friend who was visiting with from Senegal -- Djdjbyse (Instagram: royaldjibyseye)
Dani and I drove Averi to the University of Arizona to start college.
We stopped in Las Vegas on the way back and visited with V and Brian.
2900 miles in 4 days! The last day we drove 17 hours straight.
We attended the 19th annual Centralia Campout (https://www.centraliacampout.com/).
We had the usual post-campout family gathering.
Visited Deana and Bernie from California who were visiting Dani.
Sami came out and we looked for apartments for her near PSU. Sami also attend the PSU orientation. We found a great place across the street from the campus.
We had lots of great family time.
Visited The Loop in Chicago. What a great historic area.
We stayed at The LaSalle -- a brand new hotel in the downtown.
We checked off all the tourist stuff: Chicago River boat tour, dinner by the river, The Bean (AKA Cloud Gate), Buckingham Fountain, Museum of Contemporary Art, the BIG Starbucks, etc.
Took a cruise from Vancouver, BC to Seward, Alaska.
The weather was exceptionally warm for us for the whole cruise.
Visited friends in Anchorage, Alaska. We fished a bit and celebrated the Fourth of July. FYI, there are no fireworks in Alaska this time of year since it doesn't get dark enough.
Another wonderful trip to the Portland area. Spring was in full force.
Helped Albert celebrate his High School graduation with the Alabama contingent who were out for a visit.
Spent time in the Pearl District in downtown Portland.
First stop on the way out was the Sego Canyon rock art.
Camped at a remote site that was near the art. (39.00, -109.68)
Found a beautiful campsite right near Weiser, Idaho on some public land. Everything was SO green. (44.24, -117.188)
Planted Dani's veggie garden and helped Neal celebrate his birthday.
Stopped by to visit Ray and Barb in Centralia, Washington on the way home.
Stayed at Love Reservoir, Oregon on the way back. There were a lot of geese and sheep. (44.24, -117.23)
Went to the exciting Asian Festival at Lake Oswego High School.
Danie and I did amazing hike: "White Pine, Wildwood, Mac and Walnut Trail Loop." This included a walk through the International Rose Test Garden. We need to go back and explore The Portland Japanese Garden. The Arlington Heights neighborhood is very beautiful.

Met Tess at the halfway point (Sevier Lake) on her drive home from California. she was at a farm internship for the last 5 months.
She brought home two baby goats which she is keeping on a friends property in Boulder.
It was very, very windy!
